I didn't really try that hardDec 22 2005Biology
I didn't really try that hard. I got into better schools, but I decided on RIT after seeing the campus. Remember to show something of your personality in your application... That is if you have a personality.

I thought RIT would provide a degree that allowedDec 02 2005Fine Arts - Painting/Sculpture/Photography/etc
I thought RIT would provide a degree that allowed me to enter the professional realm 'ready'. In 1983 when I entered, the schools of Printing, Photo, and Design were not integrated as they are today and should have been. Foresight of techonological evolution needs to be better studied and implemented.
I felt my education and department, i.e. the Arts-PPHL- was only 'icing on the cake' for an Institute (NOT a university). I later found RIT to be, in my opinion, too government related. Friends that entered the realm of Optical Imaging or--(example: Gregory Wenchell ’88 (GAP) 'vice president of sales and marketing for Arjo Wiggins, Stamford, Conn. Arjo is the largest security paper company in the world. He is a board member of NASPO (North American Security Products Organization) and the Document Security Alliance, a government and private sector group that is run by the U.S. Secret Service. In the past three years, he has donated his time to give several presentations for one of RIT’s continuing education programs, which was developed specifically for forensic document examiners'.
RIT produces a great degree and job opportunities for the fields it is best supported by, and for those in the arts, get out of Dodge. If you are a techy in photo then this is the place to be - if an artist, go elsewhere.
